The revelation arrives during Spanish interview
U2 are planning a major tour next year in support of their Songs Of Experience album.
That’s according to the ever-vigilant U2 en Espana fan page who ran into the band when they were in Valencia for the wedding of close pal Reggie Manuel who was central back in the day to their Mother Records operation.
In relation to the Songs of iNNOCENCE + eXPERIENCE Tour, the fan group quote Bono as saying: “The second part of the tour is for 2017. You might see a few things in September or October though.”
It's possible that any events in late September would coincide with the band's 40th anniversary, which falls on September 25. Two major US shows are already booked – at the iHeartRadio Music Festival on September 23 in Las Vegas and at Dreamforce in San Francisco on October 5 – but speculation is now rising that the Songs Of Experience may make an appearance earlier than anticipated.
Asked about the album, Bono added: “It’s not finished yet but you’ll like it. In terms of lyrics it’s stronger than War; it has more clarity.”
Next year’s tour is expected to take in the US, South America, Australasia and Europe with talk of a major outdoor Irish event in 2018.
