U2 rolled into the American capital last night to deliver The Joshua Tree at the FedEx Stadium.
The band paid tribute to the land they’ve been touring for the last month with a cover of Simon and Garfunkel’s ‘America’.

Naturally for a show at the centrepoint of American politics, there were a few big names in attendance, including former presidential candidate Ted Cruz.

Bono paid tribute to Republican Chief Whip Steve Scalise after he was shot last week.
"We are so grateful that Congressman Scalise and his comrades made it through,” he said. “So grateful. We hold them up as love holds us all up."
