Bono NOT to be President of World Bank
A Bono aid says that the singer has no intention of taking over from James Wolfensohn as the leader of the World Bank.
Having surfaced last month in a Los Angeles Times editorial, the story gained extra credence when US Treasury Secretary John Snow spoke of his admiration for the U2 man and his efforts to highlight third world debt.
“I can’t believe I need to say this, but there are no circumstances in which Bono would be nominated for or accept the World Bank job,” says Jamie Drummond of Debt, AIDS, Trade, Africa. “Bono is flattered to be mentioned but DATA does its best work from the outside.”
