Tricky gets all theatrical in Dublin
The law abiding trip hop legend did not in any way contravene the Public Health Tobacco Act. Honest!
It might to the untrained eye have looked like Tricky was flouting the smoking ban in the Dublin Academy last night but, nope, he was merely being theatrical.
According to posters strategically placed outside the toilets, “Please note the artist may use herbal cigarettes during tonight’s performance. These will be a prop used in keeping with the theatrical nature of the show. Any herbal cigarettes used will not contain any nicotine or tobacco and will not contravene the current no smoking laws under the Public Health Tobacco Act."
These cigarettes did indeed look and smell very herbal, and helped young Mr. Thaws and his keyboard-player relax into a set that climaxed with a stage invasion-inducing cover of Motorhead’s ‘Ace Of Spades’.
We’ll have more on Tricky in an upcoming issue.
