It is a year of remembrance and TV3 have taken the opportunity not only to remember but re-imagine in their new drama Trial of the Century.
Trial of the Century sees Tom Vaughan-Lawlor star as our national rebel hero, Padraig Pearse.
In this drama however, there is quite the twist. Trial of the Century grants Pearse with the trial he was never afforded with in real life. The show will band about many questions, speculations and opinions on the most pivotal rebellion in Irish history and the man who helped graft it all.
The mini-series consists of three episodes and will see arguments put towards Pearse and we will hear his defense of the Rebellion.
Trial of the Century was filmed in Green Street Courthouse in Smithfield which is significant in itself. This court held several prominent historic trials such as the trial of Wolfe Tone and Robert Emmet in 1803. Furthermore, Green Street Courthouse was used extensively as the Special Criminals Court throughout the Troubles from 1970 to the 1990's. The show also stars Mark Huberman and Aoibhinn McGinnity.
Trial of the Century will debut this forthcoming Saturday 30 and will run consecutively until the Bank Holiday Monday when the jury will decide Pearse's fate.
