€460 million super-venue planned for Tipperary

MCD are among those involved.

MCD are one of the supporters of the Tipperary Venue, a proposed €460 million cultural, sporting and leisure development proposed for the north of the county.

Of particular interest to music fans is the 15,000-seater underground entertainment venue, which has a retractable roof for open-air gigs.

Located on an 800 acre site close to the village of Two-Mile-Borris, the Tipperary Venue is the brainchild of Dublin-based businessman Richard Quirke whose interests include Dr. Quirkey’s Good Time Emporium.

If given the planning green light, it will also incorporate a Las Vegas-style casino, hotel, state-of-the-art racecourse, a sprint track, an all weather floodlit track, an 18-hole golf course, driving range, equestrian centre and high-end retail outlets.

Also backing the project is Independent Tipperary North TD Michael Lowry who together with MCD was instrumental in bringing Féile to Thurles' Semple Stadium during the 1990s.
