Mission Control
American slacker act back on track
Proving that the garage scene of the early noughties is still as strong as ever, Georgia-based trio The Whigs return to action this month with their second effort Mission Control. Featuring some fiery and funky lo-fi rock songs that are big on energy, the record is a like an unstoppable steamroller relentlessly delivering a healthy dose of rock to the masses. At times it can all get a little samey and the self-indulgent ‘I Never Want To Go Home’ sounds like an even shittier version of Soul Asylum, but if you love a sizable slice of American slacker music, this could be the record for you.
Key Track: ‘Production City’
