"The Undertones captured the mood of a generation", says its creator...
Colin Bateman has been talking about the Teenage Kicks musical he’s developing in association with the Nerve Centre and the Millennium Forum as part of Derry’s UK City of Culture 2013 celebrations.
“Even those too young to remember The Undertones first time around will be familiar with their music,” the Bangor novelist and screenwriter tells the Londonderry Sentinel. “As a band they captured the mood of a generation and their amazing energy immediately comes back to life when you hear their songs today. They have become synonymous with Northern Ireland and Teenage Kicks will use their distinctive sounds as the starting point to tell a story of the punk generation.”

The Undertones also feature prominently in the Terri Hooley Good Vibrations biopic, which having scored film festival success will get a general Irish and UK release in the New Year.
