Taking place tonight in the Dublin Point, the Meteor Ireland Music Awards will feature performances by Paddy Casey, Bell X1 and The Thrills among others
Toenails are being clipped and legs waxed in preparation for the Meteor Ireland Music Awards which take place tonight (Thursday 24) at the Point in Dublin.
The event sees Ireland’s glitterati convene for the gong-giving evening, with performances from Paddy Casey, Westlife and BellX1 among others.
Rolling Stoner Ronnie Wood, currently residing in Co. Kildare, is to take the stage with The Thrills, who are nominated for Best Irish Band after winning Best Irish Album last year.
Other luminaries attending the awards include Frankie Poullain from The Darkness, Matt Willis (ex-Busted) and Samantha Mumba. Comedian Ed Byrne will be hosting the ceremony and with 16 awards on offer, it looks set to be a jam-packed evening.
Organisers expected the event to go well, saying: “Preparations are going great."

“This year is even more eclectic than usual. We have an international artist like Snopp Dogg opening the show with 20 people on stage, and Aslan, who are very much an Irish band, closing it.”
Best Betting, the online betting site, shows that Snow Patrol are favourites to win Best Irish Band, with Damien Rice for Best Irish Male and Westlife for Best Irish Pop Act.
Check back tomorrow for the winners and the aftermath madness.
