The Big Session is on! The Boomtown Rats, The Stunning, Mundy and Ash will play together twice in the two US cities this weekend.
The Big Session will see 4 of our best music exports play two landmark US shows this weekend; Terminal 5 in New York City this Friday, September 26, and The Royale in Boston on September 28.
The Boomtown Rats, The Stunning, Mundy and Ash have been enlisted for duty for the pair of gigs, which will be hosted by Father Ted veteran and comedian Joe Rooney.
Hot Press caught up with Steve Wall, of The Stunning and The Walls, ahead of the shows.
“I’m really looking forward to it,” said Steve, whose last hop across the pond with The Stunning was in the early ‘90s. “It’s a really interesting line up - Gary Cohen, the promoter who runs the Barretstown Benefits, has been talking about getting The Stunning over to America for years. It’s been a long time coming, but we’re finally all able to do it now.”

Mundy and Ash are both making waves in the US, but it’s been a while since either The Stunning or the Boomtown Rats have been stateside. On the back of that, Steve is predicting a well mixed crowd: “I think it’ll be a overlap of fans and, of course, people will come to see Bob Geldof alone - just to see him in action,” he told Hot Press. “The shows are spread out between Boston and New York, so either way we'll have enough Paddies around to make up a crowd!”
