The news comes from a leaked record label memo
It looks as though that five year wait for new Strokes material is nearing an end - murmurs from the band's camp recently have given the impression that the album was near completion and today we have the news that it is set for a March 22 release in the US.
The information is apparently from a leaked RCA memo. No European release date has been announced as yet. We don't have a title either, though it will consist of ten tracks.
Speaking to Zane Lowe on BBC radio before the New Year, bassist Nikolai Fraiture stated that the album would be out in the coming months.
Fraiture said that the follow-up to 2006's First Impressions Of Earth is "in the mixing stage" and that it would see a return to the band's "classic sound".
Reports from the Strokes camp over the past year has given the impression of a band divided, something Fraiture hasn't really disputed - he spoke of the "weird" atmosphere during recording, which led to singer Julian Casablancas laying down his vocals separately to his bandmates.

Fraiture said, "Sonically, I feel it's the album which should have been made between Room On Fire and First Impressions Of Earth."
He has not gone into specific details regarding live shows but promised the band would be touring the world in this year.
