Rumours suggest the Mancunian legends are set to release their first album in over 20 years this summer
There have been a number of reports over the past 24 hours suggesting that The Stone Roses are set to release a new LP to coincide with their summer tour.
The bands last record was 1994's Second Coming and their split shortly followed in 1996 as tensions in the band had hit boiling point. Drummer Reni was first to leave followed by guitarist John Squire after him, with Squire’s departure eventually leading to the bands demise.
The band reformed in in 2011 and played a number of large sold out shows. Since their reunion it has been rumoured that new material was coming out but nothing has been confirmed yet. The closest we’ve come to an official statement about possible new material was when Mani was interviewed for Manchester based website Gigslutz in 2013, when asked about new material and a release date Mani simply replied “Yeah we’ve been working on a few bits… 2015 man, 2015!”
In a recent interview on Soccer AM when asked about the band Noel Gallagher replied “The Roses are blooming” but more recently he suggested that he would not be attending the bands upcoming shows unless they were going to play new material.

Yesterday however The Mirror was reporting that a source close to the band said; "Ian Brown and the lads have been busy getting their next album ready. It will be album number three. It's a long time coming but they feel the time is right now. They've been back in the studio. Everyone is very excited about it."
We wont get too excited about this however until the band themselves make it official, there seems to be a lot of Stone Roses rumours that never seem to materialise.
