The musicians of Ireland have clubbed together to help out The Mighty Stef in a time of need.
As previously reported, Stef was the unfortunate victim of a thief while touring in the States. Not only did a large sum of cash, his passport and his wallet get half-inched, but also a friend's video camera and guitar.
His manager, Frank Murray, explains his current situation: "He was due to come home this weekend but he's stuck in Chicago. His girlfriend's there so he's okay and gotten over the despondency, and in fact we've lined up a couple of gigs for him while he has this extra time."
Documents to get a new passport are winging their way to him as we speak, after which he'll be coming back across the Atlantic.
To help ease the blow of the loss in the meantime, a fundraising night entitled 'Strictly No Guestlist' is planned for Tuesday 29 May at The Hub in Dublin, with €10 entry.
There to help their comrade are The Things, Sickboy, Arch Enemies, Twin Kranes and Band On An Island and DJ Trev Radiator.
Frank also hopes to hold another fundraiser/welcome home event when The Mighty Stef returns.
A new single, entitled 'Death Threats', is still planned to be recorded in July and released in August.
