The Libertines are apparently looking to get Jack White on board to produce their new album.

The newly reformed rockers, who announced their comeback with a raucous show at Hyde Park, had previously confirmed that they are eyeing up a new album; Doherty has now revealed that his preferred producer would be the venerable Mr White.

“I’d love him to do it, it’d be amazing," Doherty told French TV station D8. "But I don’t want to get too hopeful.”

As well as White's infamously packed schedule (enormous tour, new Dead Weather album, looking sad at baseball games...) there's also the question of whether the notoriously volatile Libertines will keep things together long enough to get in studio.

Fingers crosses, though - it would be a collaboration for the ages...
