The Frames enlist erstwhile Mary Jane Simon Good to temporarily fill ex-guitarist Dave Odlum's sizable shoes. Meanwhile: a foothold in the UK, a triumph in the Czech republic and a moment of glory in Rolling Stone...
The Frames are in the Czech Republic this week with ex-Mary Janes man Simon Good filling in for the departed Dave Odlum.
Although eye-witness reports say that he's perfect for the job, a band spokesperson tells Hot Press that "Simon's fitted in really well and is probably going to the States with them in February, but he's not a permanent replacement for Dave. I imagine they'll get this batch of dates out the way, and then give serious thought to who they'll get in."
Prior to the Czech Republic, The Frames were in the UK where – shock horror! – they finally appear to be making headway.

"It's always been the place we get least back," Glen Hansard reflects. "That said, we find ourselves in a situation now where people are beginning to come to our gigs and things seem to be picking up. Our London gig was sold-out. We're not talking thousands or even hundreds but people are coming to see us and we're happy."
The band's mood will have been further enhanced by Rolling Stone describing For The Birds as, "A literate, delicate and passionate record that sways with the sort of majestic weariness embedded in The Dirty Three's best work." Result!
