In August and September, there are some sensational acts coming to perform at the intimate Galway venue
If you're a music fan get ready for a busy few weeks at Monroe's Live. The music venue routinely hosts the finest in International, National & Local acts, and we have a trio of acts to look out for in August and September.
Across two stages, you'll hear everything from rock to folk, bluegrass to rockabilly.
First up, on Aug 16, is the American roots orchestra, The Dustbowl Revival. Eight full-time members mash the sounds of traditional American music including Bluegrass, Swing, Hot Jazz, Pre-war blues, Southern Soul and New Orleans funk.
Over the last few years, the band has steadily gained recognition while playing festivals and venues across North America and Europe. Their video for their new single, “Never Had To Go,” was shot with a new friend of the band: the legendary actor Dick Van Dyke.
Their fourth album With A Lampshade On, shines a light on the band’s strength as a live act. To watch them onstage is to take part in an evolving conversation between an orchestra and audience. The horns blast, the fiddle and mandolin swoon, and the howling vocals — which Lupetin shares with Liz Beebe — rattle off stories about preachers, drinkers, lovers, and holy rollers.

Next up is Cry Before Dawn. They formed in 1982, and quickly became one of Ireland’s best loved bands, winning the prestigious IRMA award for “Best Newcomer” 1987, and “Best Irish Group”, in 1989.
Their two albums “Crimes Of Conscience” and Witness For The World” went double platinum and they developed a reputation for being one of Ireland’s most passionate live bands. Their music is enhanced with Uilleann Pipes, Irish flute and whistles, a sound that sets them apart from their contemporaries.
It’s now time for Galway fans to lap up their amazing sound for one night only!

Lastly, we introduce you to British alternative rock band Toploader. Their debut album Onka's Big Moka sold over one million copies and remained in the Top 5 of the UK album chart for over six months earning them 4 Brit Award nominations.
With a reputation as a genuine crowd-pleasing live band, Toploader have backed the likes Paul Weller, Noel Gallagher, Tom Jones, Simple Minds and Bon Jovi, where they became the last British band to play the original Wembley Stadium.
