The campaign listed the singer’s name in conjunction with the concept of Irish artists being “shafted” by Irish radio
The Coronas frontman Danny O’Reilly has taken to the internet to slam the political ad that used his name without his permission.
The campaign discusses the unfair treatment of Irish artists by the radio industry: The ad alleges that Irish artists like Danny are being “shafted” due to the fact that they are not given enough airplay on national radio stations.
The ad warns against voting for political parties “who refuse to support fairer access for Irish artists on national radio”.
The Dubliner cleared up the issue on the band’s Facebook page:
“I was shocked and disappointed to see my name associated with a political campaign in a newspaper over the weekend.”

While the singer said he never “agreed or signed up to be associated with the campaign”, he does concede that “the current legislation affecting what constitutes as 'Irish music' needs to be reviewed”.
However the Irish artist says he is essentially very appreciative of the support that Irish radio gives his music.
The Coronas play Live At The Marquee in Cork, June 24-25 for which tickets are now on sale.
