Mega will be with us later in the year...
Having tested the waters with 2014's Ratlife EP, The Boomtown Rats are readying their first album since 1994's Loudmouth. Talking to the Daily Mirror, Bob Geldof says it may be released in bite size chunks.
"We’ve done 26 tracks," he reveals. "We’re mixing them now, I’ve done the vocals on them. We’re getting really excited, we think they’re great. We did a lot of songs. We have a situation now where a song comes out and a day later it’s dead.
"What we’re probably going to do is issue a series of EPs, I’m going to call the album Mega," he adds. "I’ll release four tracks and then a couple of months later another four tracks, and then another four, which allows us to space out the music but also do different things."
Bob was in Dublin recently for the launch of the Hot Press Covers Exhibition in the National Photographic Archive in Temple Bar, and a charity gig in the neighbouring Olympia, which found the Rats jamming with kindred spirits The Strypes.
