Another new entry, Rihanna's Loud hits No. 2
Brand new entries straddle the summit of the Irish Album Chart this week. Christmas No. 1 favourites Take That have gone to No. 1 on the first week of asking with their new album Progress. Just below them, Rihanna's debuts at No. 2 with her fifth album Loud.
This all means last week's No.1, the Greatest Hits from '80s poodle rockers Bon Jovi slips to 3rd. Another new entry in the top 5, Bruce Springsteen's The Promise, which collects the unfairly discarded, exceptional songs from his Darkness On The Edge Of Town sessions debuts at No. 4. Next year's Slane headliners Kings Of Leon cling on to the top 5 for dear life, falling three spots from their position at No. 2 last week.
Other new entries are dominated by solo artists. Continuing the pre-Christmas trend of re-releases scoring big, Pink is at No. 8 with her Greatest Hits... So Far!!!. We suggest you wait twenty years for the complete Greatest Hits and see how much the tracklisting changes.

Shayne Ward's new one also charts high. The X Factor man's Obsession is at No. 11. Bringing a classical touch to proceedings, Dutch composer Andre Rieu debuts at No. 22 with his Moonlight Serenade.
