Russia/U.S. tensions are arguably at their coldest since the dark days of the 1980s. Fear not however, because this means we also get a hotting up of old superpower rivalries that we never wanted to cool down in the first place. No I'm not talking about Gorbachev/Reagen rather I'm talking about the battle for the soul of the free world which took place in the form of boxing match between all american underdog Rocky Balboa and the steroid enhanced Russian Ivan Drago.

That match may have been fictional and haven taken place in the 4th Rocky film, but this does not make it any less consequential. It's continued importance can be seen in that fact that veteran actor Sylvester Stallone has hinted, via a a post on his Instagram account , that Drago could be returning to the franchsie after a plus 30-year absence and appear in the hotly anticipated sequel to Ryan Coogler's Creed.

If it were true, it would be a timely inclusion, with new, increasingly worrying stories emerging about Russian involvement in US election emerging every day. Like the end of the fourth Rocky, however, it could also end up being a rallying cry for unity in difficult times .Either way, there is no word as of yet if star Dolph Lundgren will reprise his role as Drago so it's early days still.

In the Instagram post, we see Adonis of the first Creed film facing off against Drago in a photo-shopped image with Stallone saying in the caption "HISTORY WILL ALWAYS REPEAT ITSELF IN ONE FORM OR ANOTHER, JUST GOT TO BE READY!". Stallone was nominated for an Academy Award in 2015 for his performance as Adonis Creed's coach.
