Razor-sharp comedian is back over in May...
Hot Press fave Stewart Lee returns to Vicar Street on Thursday May 21 with new show A Room With A Stew in tow.
His latest effort features fresh material in preparation for the forthcoming new series of Stewart Lee's Comedy Vehicle. Speaking to Hot Press a couple of years back, Lee praised the influence of Irish comedians on his particular brand of comedy.
"I feel very privileged doing stand-up in Ireland because, when I was starting out, all the comics that I liked were Irish comics doing stories rather than gags. The best people at that were the Irish ones. So in a way it seems odd to me that I’d be remotely popular in Ireland, because I think they’ve got a shit foreign copy of their better thing. The extent to which Dave Allen brought that through in the ‘70s really just influenced me. 15 minutes without a gag. Slow-builds and things."
