The Welsh rockers have been lined up to play the Sultanate in November.
Stereophonics have announced a show in, of all places, the Sultanate of Oman! The gig is presented by Alive Entertainment, in association with HIFM.
The band are on a roll, having played T In The Park and headlined V Festival this year. Their Oman show takes place on 12 November 2015, in Shangri-La Barr Al Jissah Resort & Spa’s amphitheatre, where Ed Sheeran played earlier this year. The show is part of a trend, which sees more rock ’n’ roll gigs being promoted in what are highly conservative countries in the Middle East.
Stereophonics are a Welsh rock band that formed in 1992 in the village of Cwmaman in Cynon Valley, Wales. The former Hot Press cover stars are one of UK’s emerging ‘legacy' acts, responsible for rock anthems such as 'Just Looking', 'Have a Nice Day' and ‘Dakota'. The band currently comprises Kelly Jones (lead vocals and guitar), Richard Jones (bass guitar and backing vocals), Adam Zindani (guitar and backing vocals), Jamie Morrison (drums) and touring member Tony Kirkham (keyboards). Their ninth studio album Keep The Village Alive, which received a very positive review in Hot Press, has just been released.
"We are thrilled to be bringing Stereophonics to Oman for all the rock lovers in the country," Gordon Mackenzie, Managing Director of Alive Entertainment said. "Our goal as an events company is to bring the biggest and best names in entertainment to the Sultanate. There’s a lot more to come."
Shangri-La’s amphitheatre is no stranger to hosting extensive events, being the largest outdoor venue in Muscat. "After the success of Ed Sheeran back in February,” Mark Kirk, Area Manager and Hotel General Manager commented, "we are delighted to welcome yet another international artist to perform at Shangri-La Muscat. It is exciting to see the interest from the entertainment industry in Oman increasing – and we are proud to be part of this development."
