BBC Northern Ireland to broadcast Snow Patrol gig
Yup, you'll be able to see all of the Ward Park action on telly.
The Hot Press Newsdesk, 24 May 2010
BBC Northern Ireland have scored a major coup by securing the broadcast rights to Snow Patrol’s 40,000-capacity Ward Park extravaganza – the biggest gig ever played by a Northern Irish act in their own backyard.
The show will air on both TV and radio during the week following the June 5 shindig.
The Bangor action will unfurl as follows:
4pm – Gates open
4.30pm – General Fiasco
5.45pm – Band Of Horses
7.15pm – Lisa Hannigan
9pm – Snow Patrol
There will also be a second stage featuring such hot to trot local acts as Robyn G Shiels, Cashier No. 9 and Cat Malojian.
Meanwhile, Gary Lightbody’s star-studded Tired Pony side-project make their live bow on July 14 in the London Forum. Their debut album, The Place We Ran From, is out here three days earlier.

There’s no fear of Snow Patrol surprising us. ‘You’re All I Have’ is as safe a return as you might expect from the Belfast band. Chugging guitar lines and baby faced vocals characterise three minutes of Gary Lightbody’s pleas “to hold on” to whatever girl may or may not inspired this rehash of previous offerings. Its incessantly warm and catchy chorus may make this no bad thing necessarily but we could really do without Final Straw mark two.
