Steve Severin comes to Dublin
The Siouxsie & The Banshees man is over this month.
The Hot Press Newsdesk, 14 May 2012
The punk and Goth legend that is Steve Severin (nee Spunker) is Dublin-bound on May 18 and 20 for two special filmic events in the IFI, Temple Bar and Mermaid Arts Centre, Bray, respectively.
The Siouxsie & The Banshees co-founder is supplying the live soundtrack to the classic 1932 French-German horror film, Vampyr. It begins with a young student of the occult arriving at an inn and receiving a mysterious package containing a book about vampires. His following experiences in a world of shadowy beings and deathly visions, created through Carol Theodor Dreyer’s original camerawork and editing, feel as intangible as they are terrifying.
With the Banshees on ‘hold’, Severin has become increasingly involved in scoring movies, with Jean Cocteau’s Blood Of A Poet also on his CV.
