An angelic take...
Currently adorning the front cover of Hot Press (sharing the spotlight with the shy and retiring Olaf Tyaransen), Sinéad O'Connor has turned her attention to the legendary Bob Dylan, entering in a powerful rendition of 'Precious Angel', from his 1979 Slow Train Coming album.
"Sinéad is an absolute Dylan freak and she told me that she wanted to film and record some of his lesser known religious songs to post on her website - as a tribute rather than for profit," says Olaf. "I immediately suggested Dublin filmmaker Justin McCarthy, with whom I work each year on GAF TV (the Galway Arts Festival's online TV channel). Not only is he a Dylanologist, but he's also a mean guitar player. As far as I know, they now plan to do a series of these."

Accompanied by McCarthy on guitar, it's a typically soulful take from Ms. O'Connor, who, it is revealed in the current issue of Hot Press, only has Dylan songs on her iPod. That full interview, a road trip diary of sorts around Los Angeles, can be read in the brand new edition of HP, out now. Sinéad also contributed a cover of 'Property Of Jesus' to the 75-track Dylan covers album Chimes Of Freedom, in aid of Amnesty International.
