Sinéad O’Connor has recorded four tracks with Massive Attack
ACCORDING TO A well-placed source, Sinéad O’Connor has recorded four tracks with Massive Attack, which may or may not appear on the Wild Bunch’s new album.
“They go off on so many tangents that, until it’s in the shops, you never know 100% what’s going to be on the record,” says our mole. “The feedback at this stage, though, is very positive.”
Mooted for autumn 2001 release, the opus is also likely to include contributions from Liz Frazer, The Dandy Warhols, Damon Albarn and Lupine Howl who spent a couple of weeks with them last year in the Caribbean.
“Normally we start an album off with a few tracks, but this time we had a load,” enthuses 3D. “I thought ‘This is great, we’ve got tons of material’, but it’s proved to be harder than ever. We’ve got hours of fucking really cool bits of music, but to actually make an album out of it is really difficult.

“What I want to get out of this,” he expands, “is a deliberate contrast. Mezzanine had a mood, but by the middle of the album it started to piss me off a little. The last two albums had a definite mood to them, which is cool, but with this one I want to make it a bit more messy.”
Fans desperate for new product should check out their collaboration with David Bowie, ‘Nature Boy’, which appears on the Moulin Rouge soundtrack and more than lives up to its lineage.
