Dublin's official tribute will take place in the National Concert Hall next year.
Hot Press has learned that Wednesday April 23 will be the day that Dublin city pays official homage to one of its most distinguished former residents.
The late Nobel laureate Seamus Heaney, who passed away in August, will be honoured at a special 'Celebrating Seamus Heaney' evening, in the National Concert Hall, Dublin. Lord Mayor Oisín Quinn will be in attendance. Heaney had called Dublin his home since the early '70s. The event is part of the One City One Book Festival, which celebrates the importance of one specially selected book to the people of the city.

The One City One Book Festival take place throughout the month of April, promoting poetry and lyrics around Dublin. The Dublin City Libraries and Dublin UNESCO City of Literature have announced that If Ever You Go: a map of Dublin in poetry and song will be the One City One Book choice, featuring the poems, ballads and songs of a range of literary luminaries connected with Dublin, among them Swift, Synge, Yeats, Joyce, Kavanagh and Ó Direáin as well as Seamus Heaney, Eavan Boland, Dermot Bolger, Paula Meehan, Nuala Ní Dhomhnaill and Derek Mahon. It is out February 2014.
