You're going to be seeing a lot of the Modfather over the coming months!
Paul Weller is to play a headline show as part of this year’s Sea Sessions, which take place in Bundoran from June 25 to 27. Also confirmed are the Hypnotic Brass Ensemble, Fun Lovin’ Criminals, Tom Baxter, David Holmes, Andy Weatherall, Fred, Cathy Davey, The Frank & Walters and Dead Flags.
Early bird tickets for the bash are available from www.seasessions.ie priced €79.95.
If you're not able to make it to Donegal or the Live At The Marquee date he's playing on June 27, fear not, because he's Dublin-bound on November 16 for five consecutive shows in the Olympia. Tickets are ?44.20 and ?49.20 and go on sale on Friday March 26.
Meanwhile, we’ve managed to cop a pre-release listen to Weller’s upcoming Wake Up The Nation album, and can report that it’s among the best things he’s ever done. The money track is ‘No Tears To Cry’, a “definite nod to the Walker Brothers and those epic ballads”, which features 72-year-old Tornadoes man Clem Cattini on drums.
Our man Stuart Clark got to meet the Modfather this week in London, with Kevin Shields, the brothers Gallagher, John Lydon, Irvine Welsh, Bruce Foxton and John Lennon just a handful of the names that cropped up in an extensive interview, which will appear shortly in Hot Press.
