In an extraordinary multimedia interview, Ryan Adams talks to Olaf Tyaransen (and about 15 Twitter users) about interaction, illness and inspiration.
Ryan Adams doesn’t often interact with his fans on social media. “But once in a very long while…sure.” His Hot Press interview opens with an impromptu Twitter Q&A, before he tells Olaf Tyaransen about the difficulties of Ménière's disease.
“It’s really difficult to describe, for me and for other people that I’ve talked to who have symptoms. Things go to shit really quickly. When I experience it I fell like my bones weigh a hundred pounds inside my skin, like I can’t adjust to gravity. It’s really fucking weird.”
He might be using medical marijuana for relief, but this didn’t cause his new album, Ryan Adams, to develop a mellow vibe.

“I looked at the electric guitar one day, and I thought, sitting in my studio, that it was like a magician’s wand. I truly saw power, and I was so excited to revisit that - and it pays me back with even more beautiful energy.”
