The Oscar winner will be bringing his directorial debut to Dublin.
A big get for the Jameson Dublin International Film Festival as they confirm bonafide A-lister Russell Crowe will be over for this year's event.
The Australian star, who won a Best Actor gong at the Oscars for Gladiator, has turned his attention to directing. His debut feature, The Water Diviner will screen in Dublin's Savoy Cinema on Friday March 20. Crowe will then participate in a post-screening Q&A.
Tickets can be snapped up here.
The Water Diviner also features Crowe in the lead role, playing an Australian farmer and water diviner who travels to Istanbul during World War I to find out the fate of his three sons who have gone missing in action. It also stars Olga Kurylenko and Isabel Lucas, and scored awards for Best Picture, Best Supporting Actor (Yılmaz Erdoğan) and Best Costume Design at the Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts Awards this year.
Grainne Humphreys, Festival Director of JDIFF says:
“I first encountered Russell Crowe in Romper Stomper in 1992, a blistering breakthrough performance of incredible power and startling intensity – two elements which he has brought to over two decades of indelible screen roles including LA Confidential, The Insider, Gladiator, A Beautiful Mind et al. The Water Diviner is an impressive, beautifully shot epic war drama. Russell Crowe has created a powerful portrait of loss and redemption with fine performances, not least his own as lead. It’s a pleasure to welcome Russell to Dublin for the festival screening of The Water Diviner and present the film to his many Irish fans."
Ahem..I'd like to address the good people of Dublin. How about I screen #TheWaterDiviner on March 20th at the Savoy ? Q & A after? Thoughts?
