Thousands of fans set to descend on Ballyshannon for the much loved festival.
Legendary guitarist and Irish icon, Rory Gallagher, was born in the Donegal town of Ballyshannon on the 2nd of March 1948 and since it's inception in 2002 The Rory Gallagher International Tribute Festival has been throwing a special annual celebration of Ballyshannon's favorite son.
Rory Gallagher's unique, instantly recognizable guitar style won the hearts of millions of music fans across the world. Ballyshannon's usual population of 2,500 people will swell to the small town's limits with in excess of 7,000 music lovers from over
25 separate countries converging on the town to remember and celebrate Rory and his phenomenal body of work.
Over the course of the festival there will be non-stop Free to view Open Air Concerts on the streets of Ballyshannon, Pub sessions, workshops, exhibitions, and nightly Big Top Festival Concerts between Thursday 29th May and Sunday 1st June 2014
This year's line-up of acts is as impressive as ever including Rory's former band members, Gerry McAvoy and Ted McKenna with “Band of Friends", the founding member of Thin Lizzy and original guitarist Eric Bell & His Band, the legendary “Mungo Jerry” featuring Ray Dorset, renowned “Whitesnake” guitarist Bernie Marsden & His Band, Pat McManus Band (ex. Mama's Boys), Johnny Gallagher & The Boxtie Band, “Sinnerboy” (UK), Laundromat (Holland), “Bad Penny” (Germany), “Moonchild” (Ireland), Tony Dowler & The Hellhounds (UK), Jed Thomas, Seamie O'Dowd Band, Lauerence Jones Band (UK), Dave McHugh Band (Dublin) and many many more.
