The genre-defying virtuoso will bring his tour, The Robert Glasper Experiment, to Dublin in July.
Texas native Robert Glasper will be spending a summer night with us here in Dublin when he plays Whelan's this July 4. He is most well-known for his work on the original music for the 2015 film Miles Ahead, which starred Don Cheadle as Miles Davis. That same year, he recorded the album Covered: The Robert Glasper Trio recorded live at Capitol Studios, which was nominated for Best Jazz Instrumental Album at the Grammys.
His earlier work includes the acoustic albums Canvas and In My Element. It was his album Double Booked which proved his versatility when he broke genre barriers by fusing his acoustic trio with an experimental hip-hop band. His star-studded 2012 album Black Radio won Best R&B Album at the 2013 Grammys, leading to the creation of Black Radio 2, which won Glasper yet another Grammy award.
Tickets for the gig go on sale tomorrow, Friday March 31, through ticketmaster.ie and other outlets.
