Go-Betweens co-founder Robert Forster will play Dublin's Button Factory in September.
Robert Forster was one of the original founding members of The Go-Betweens, who released their final LP, Oceans Apart, in 2005, and officially dis-banded in 2006 following the death of Forster's writing partner Grant McLennan.
Forster's new album The Evangelist, released in April, features three songs co-written with Grant, with a band consisting of Go-Betweens members Glenn Thompson and Adele Pickvance. And yet Forster says the record remains separate to his former band:
“In May 2006 Grant McLennan, my song writing partner died, bringing to an end The Go-Betweens. I wasn’t sure if I was ever going to make another record but this summer it just materialized. It’s a direct record... It’s not Oceans Apart 2 – it’s something else, but with trails going into the past and I’m proud of it.”
Forster plays the Button Factory on September 19. Tickets are €25 on sale June 9 through Ticketmaster and usual outlets.
