The Barbados beauty set up the Clara Lionel Foundation to extensively improve the quality of life for those in her hometown.
Rihanna has provided Barbados with much-needed medical equipment and she has now turned her focus to supporting education. Last night, she launched the Global Scholarship Program.

In this short video posted on her YouTube account, Rihanna explains the foundations of the Clara Lionel Charity. "I don't think it's fair that children carry the burden of financial limitations at such a young age." The organisation is now offering grants of up to $50,000 in Barbados, Brazil, Cuba, Haiti, Guyana and Jamaica to impoverished children who otherwise would not be able to afford an education or pursue their aspirations. Rihanna's mother also features heavily in the video as does a recent recipient of the Scholarship Program.
Since 2012, Rihanna has hosted the star-studded Diamond Ball which is a crucial part of raising funds and awareness of the charity. The foundation was set up after Rihanna's grandmother passed away from cancer, inspiring Rihanna to improve Barbados' healthcare facilities. It has since evolved to encompass overall quality of life for Barbadians.
You can catch Ri-Ri in concert when she plays the Aviva Stadium on June 21. Tickets are still available on Ticketmaster.
