The former Fairport Convention artist supplants Jamie xx.
A folk hero has the highest-selling independent album in Ireland this week.
Still is the latest record from noted British songwriter and acclaimed guitarist Richard Thompson. Produced by Wilco's Jeff Tweedy, it has earned strong reviews and follows them up by topping the Irish Indie Chart.
It means, Jamie xx's debut, In Color, has to move over and settle for No. 2.
Chasing Yesterday, the second full-length effort from Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds, holds firm in third position, with the Top 5 rounded off by Wolf Alice's My Love Is Cool and Kilkennys' The Colour Of Freedom.
High re-entries come from the Longitude-bound JUNGLE (their eponymous debut is in at No. 7), the EP-bound Future Islands (Singles returns at No. 9) and Arctic Monkeys' AM (11).
