Richard Hawley: "I Don't Listen to Other People's Music"
Richard Hawley, ahead of his gig at Iveagh Gardens tonight, has said he doesn't listen to other people's music, aside from "weird" '60s sci-fi and rockabilly records.
He said: "I live in a bubble. I collect rockabilly 7” singles and weird '60s sci-fi stuff. And that’s sort of what I’m interested in really.
“I mean, that kind of stuff doesn’t really influence me directly with what I want to do. It’s just something that is a hobby and I love doing it.
“But I’m very conscious that if you listen to too much stuff you’ll be influenced by it. And I don’t want to be influenced, I want it to be my own thing."
