R.E.M. are tonight set to complete their five-night stand in what they gushingly describe as “one of the greatest cities in world”.
As promised, The Working Rehearsals saw the unveiling of new songs like ‘Horse To Water’, ‘Living Well’s The Best Revenge’, ‘I’m Gonna DJ’, ‘Mr. Richards’, ‘Man Size Wreath’, ‘Accelerate’, ‘Staring Down The Barrel Of The Middle Distance’, ‘Houston’ and ‘Until The Day Is Done’, which are earmarked for the album they’re currently assembling in Westmeath’s Grouse Lodge studios with Jacknife Lee.
Performing in front of a simple backdrop marked ‘This Is Not A Show’, the band also exhumed such gems from their back catalogue as ‘Circus Envy’, ‘These Days’, ‘Little America’, ‘I Believe’ and most of the Chronic Town EP.
A range of merchandise - such as the T-shirt shown were made for the occasion.
To commemorate this most splendid of rock ‘n’ roll events, Hot Press has a full review and chinwag with Messrs. Mills and Buck in our next issue.
