2016 took another dramatic turn, with the news today of the death of Prince. Duran Duran, Katy Perry, Robbie Williams and Nile Rodgers have all been paying tribute
The world of rock ’n’ roll was reeling tonight with the news that Prince has died. The 57 year-old pop genius from Minnesota was found dead at his home today, following a mysterious illness. Tributes to the man – who sold in excess of 100 million albums in a wonderfully productive career – have been pouring in, via Twitter and other social media.
The death of Prince is the latest tragic twist in what has been a black year for music all across the world. "In terms of originality and influence, Prince was up there among the greatest performers contemporary music has ever seen,” Hot Press editor Niall Stokes said. “The story goes that he wrote his first song at the age of seven. That makes sense, He was a brilliantly precocious talent, who refused to do things by the book and produced a remarkable body of work!”
Here are just some of the reactions from the world’s musicians so far...
Katy Perry: And just like that...the world lost a lot of magic. Rest in peace Prince! Thanks for giving us so much…
