The pair sang 'Turn Turn' and 'If I Had A Hammer' at the Mayoral Forum...
Pete Seeger and Pierce Turner were reunited on Saturday, April 27, when they shared the stage at The Great Hall at Cooper Union, New York City.
Seeger, who celebrates his 94th birthday on May 3, was joined by Wexford-man Turner as the legendary American singer, songwriter, environmentalist and social justice advocate was honoured at the NYC Community Garden Coalition (NYCCGC) Mayoral Forum.
Speaking after the gig, Turner explained: "I haven't seen him since we came here first. Never thought I would see him again. We sang 'Turn Turn' and 'If I had a Hammer' – it was truly moving. His message seems particularly profound today, being a man of the people – many people had tears in their eyes.

"He has been a big part of my life," Turner added, "having been so supportive of Turner and Kirwan of Wexford when we came here originally – he took us under his wing and we played all along the banks of the Hudson as part of his clean up of the River, which he succeeded in doing. When being interviewed by the Melody Maker (UK), he said his favourite new band was Turner and Kirwan of Wexford. It gave us a lifeline at the time."
You can catch Turner in action on Irish soil when 'A Homecoming Hug' runs as part of The Gathering from May 10 – 12. 'A Homecoming Hug' will celebrate Turner's extensive body of work, featuring a string quartet performance, a discussion (with Jackie Hayden, Liam Fay and Tom Mooney, to name but a few) a special mass, and of course – a pub crawl!
