All change at the top, as Lisa McHugh completes an all-Irish top three at the summit of the album charts
Three new Irish albums lead the way on the album charts this week, with Picture This pipping All Tvvins to the top spot.
The Athy pair of Jimmy Rainsford and Ryan Hennessy (pictured above) have enjoyed an other-wordly rise to stardom, and their self-titled EP hitting the top of the album charts is another notable milestone in their incredible story. It's another duo chasing them down, as the equally eponymous effort from All Tvvins sits in second, one ahead of country chanteuse Lisa McHugh.
As discussed in the new issue of Hot Press, the clamour to secure radio support for Irish artists is picking up steam; programmers would do well to look at this week's chart and realise both the quality of our nation's output and the demand from the public.
Last week's chart-topper Christine and the Queens tumbles to No. 5, just behind former bestseller Drake. And while the rest of the chart has an altogether familiar look – Justin Bieber, Ed Sheeran and Walking On Cars all continuing their long-term residency in the top ten – it's still a memorable week for Irish music.
