Due to the inclement weather, the legendary High Priestess of Punk will play under canvas tonight
With Dublin gripped by high winds and heavy rain, Patti Smith's Kilmainham gig tonight will take place in two of the tents that were used this weekend for Forbidden Fruit. The site itself is in excellent shape, and gig-goers can look forward to a very special night with Smith's classic Horses album being performed in its entirety.
"This hugely anticipated show, initially set to take place on the outdoor Main Stage at the Royal Hospital is now being staged in two tented structures at the Royal Hospital," reads the official statement. "As of this morning, the official Met Eireann forecast for today indicates that: ‘Winds will increase during the afternoon, with strong to gale force southerly winds and some severe gusts likely... Winds will veer westerly and decrease in the evening.’
In light of the inclement weather and gale force winds, two adjoining stages in two tented structures will be used for tonight’s show, with two artists performing in each one, none of which will clash with each other’s performance.
Set times will be:
New Secret Weapon: 6pm - 6:30pm (Tent 2)
Ariel Pink: 6:40pm - 7:40pm (Tent 1)
Spiritualized: 7:55pm - 9:05pm (Tent 2)
Patti Smith 9:15pm - 10:45pm (Tent 1)
The safety and comfort of our fans is of utmost importance and we want fans to enjoy what is sure to be an amazing show."
Needless to say, Hot Press will be in the thick of the action with a review and photos online tomorrow.
