Two Sunsets
tweecore the merrier as trans-national indie weaklings hook-up
Two Sunsets is a collaborative effort between legendary Glaswegian indie fops The Pastels and Tokyo’s Tenniscoats (hence the clever title). They’ve been cooking the record in their metaphorical oven for nigh on three years. Sadly, the results are a bit hit and miss. The delicate tinkling of their instruments can be really effective on the likes of ‘Modesty Piece’ and ‘About You’, but there are times when it sounds just like elevator music (‘Tokyo Glasgow,’ ‘Hikoki’). There’s also a whiff of tweecore in the air, so sickly sweet it could give you a toothache.
