Paranoid Visions' Aoife Destruction is detained by armed police.
Paranoid Visions singer Aoife Destruction sparked a security alert last Monday at Manchester Airport.
Returning home with the band from the Rebellion punk festival in Blackpool, which was headlined by Killing Joke and The Damned, Aoife was pulled over by security staff who deemed her studded belt and knuckle-duster clasp to be an offensive weapon.
“Before we knew it, Aoife was surrounded by armed police and taken away for questioning,” says guitarist P.A. “We would have been scared except we were still numb from the rest of the weekend!”
Luckily, the police recognised that the 5 ft 3”, 7 stone singer wasn’t a serious terrorist threat, that her belt was “a fashion statement rather than an intentional weapon” and released her with a caution.
Meanwhile, the Dublin punk outfit continue to do huge internet business with their Beware Of The God album, which has spawned a top 5 indie download hit in the disturbing shape of ‘Fritzl’s Basement.’
