In our latest issue's cover piece, the returning artist talks about his ever-lowering tolerance for naysayers.
In a wide-ranging interview with Olaf Tyaransen in the new Hot Press, Scottish indie-hunk Paolo Nutini talks about how he strives to ignore the trappings of fame.
As he returns with new album Caustic Love, Nutini suggests that maturity and the experience of being in the spotlight have lowered his tolerance for confrontational "arseholes". He's also learnt how to deal with jealous boyfriends...
"You have to call people out," he says. "If people have a go at me, I'll have a go at them. It's a lot more straightforward then it ever was before. You get guys that maybe their partner, their better-half, comes up and wants a picture or maybe get's a bit excited or whatever, and you have to take it the right way."
The 'Pencil Full Of Lead' star reflects on how he's less likely to sidestep awkward encounters these days. "I don't suffer arseholes that well anymore. I used to kinda shy away from elements of confrontation but now I'm a lot more kinda, 'Fuck you!'"

Elsewhere in the interview, Nutini finds plenty to be positive about. In particular opining about his fondness for spending time in Ireland, be it "...having a whiskey or two and putting the world to rights" in Westmeath or "finding out some of the folklore" in Galway.
