It's been an amazing time for Irish music of late, and Dublin label Independent Records have gone a considerable way toward documenting this remarkable era by bringing us Kicking Against... Nuggets From The New Irish Overground. Part confirmation of the current strength and diversity of indigenous talent, part celebration of it, and part mother-of-all-compilations with superfabulous multimedia extras, Kicking Against will make you excited all over again, and not a little bit proud, to be a fan of Irish music. Here's hoping it's the first of many.
To celebrate the release of Kicking Against..., last week we offered you the chance to watch the first of the two videos included on the CD, Creative Controle's Bloodrush. This week, we bring you the second: the now legendary Padre Pio from Warlords of Pez. As well, we're continuing our competition begun last week - wherein you're in with a chance to win a copy of your very ownio. Which, after you read the LP's tracklisting (see below again), you will definitely want.
