Events taking place all over the country right now
Team HP is counting down the hours until we scatter to the four corners of the country to sample some of the fare on offer as part of Culture Night.
To give an exhaustive guide to the nationwide goings-on would be a fool's errand, but we have picked out a few things that particularly tickled our collective fancy.
In Kilkenny, animation fans are in for a treat as Rory Conway, Butler Gallery’s resident Cartoon Saloon animator, will share behind-the-scenes secrets about the process, while a little bit up the road in Newbridge, the fantastic 20.000 Days on Earth, the full-length documentary following the life of Nick Cave (pictured) gets a screening at the Riverbank Arts Centre.
In NUI Galway, a special exhibition on WB Yeats will be given the guided tour and talks treatment, while Hawk’s Well Theatre in the Yeats country itself hosts a night looking at Sligo's experience of 1916.
In Cork, the City Hall welcomes family-friendly musical performances throughout the day, while in Dublin, there's some real musical treats to wrap your ears around; Le Galaxie get the party started at NCAD, while the wonderful Lisa O'Neill performs at Dun Laoghaire's Pavilion theatre.
