Generation Game
This is the second self-financed record by Drogheda school teacher Niall Boyle and despite the seven year gap between records, it carries on from where Stop, Look, Listen left off.
Steeped in Waterboys-isms from the start, Generation Game makes for a pleasant listen which is big on melody and Kieran Goss-esque heart on sleeve sentiment. Younger listeners might be a little turned off by the “those were the days” nature of the album but older ears will appreciate Boyle’s ability to craft an intelligent ballad.
