The proto-punks have signed to Blast Records
Almost forty years after they began making an unholy New York racket dressed in make-up and high heels (entrancing a young Morrissey along the way), the New York Dolls gear up to release what is only their fifth full-length album, Dancing Backwards In High Heels. Considering they were on ice for 28 years and lost Johnny Thunders, Billy Murcia and Arthur “Killer” Kane along the way, five albums is probably a good innings.
The glam group, now consisting of David Johansen, Sylvain Sylvain and three newbies, is set to release Dancing Backwards In High Heels on Monday March 14 on Blast Records.
The follow-up to 2009’s Cause I Sez So was recorded in September 2010 at Blast Recording Studios in Newcastle, England and was produced by Jason Hill. It will come with a bonus DVD featuring footage shot during recording and video of live performances last year.
