Offaly troubadour Mundy is to lend a helping hand to a child in need this Sunday.
The singer is to play a benefit gig with Charlie McGettigan, Kerbside and Fiach in the Radisson Hotel, Athlone on Sunday, September 2nd.
Sarah Ryan is a six-year-old girl who was born after just 24 weeks. She spent the first three weeks of her life on a ventilator, battling lung disease, septicaemia and a hole in the heart. She also has cerebral palsy and has severe difficulties with sight and hearing, having undergone laser surgery at eight weeks of age in order to preserve her ability to see.
While she has fought tremendously hard in her young life, she requires radical realignment surgery to help her walk. This is only available in the US, and, in order to secure it for her, her family, friends and community have rallied around and organised a fundraising concert. They need to sell 600 tickets to gather the necessary sum.
So, as well as a fantastic night of music, the show in Athlone will be an opportunity to help a brave little girl get on in the world.
Doors open on September 2nd at 7.30 PM. Tickets priced at €25 are available now from Music World (Golden Island), Athlone, or by contacting Martina Ryan on 0879764125.
