Parastrophics
Mice continue their quest to make music from another planet
Six years on from their last studio album, German lords of all things electro Mouse On Mars return with a new record that sees the duo reinvent themselves for the modern era. Parastrophics is their tenth record. Despite this, the music on the 13-track album never once sounds predictable, jaded or tired, and tunes like the hip hop infused ‘Metrotopy’ crackle and fizz with dizzying ideas. While in places the duo’s penchant for unusual time signatures and near impregnable song structures mars the overall flow of things (check ‘Chordblocker, Cinnamon Toasted,’ ‘Imatch’), for the most part it’s a thrilling listen.
